Deano signs a contract extension

Dean Hammond has signed a new contract keeping him at St Mary's till 2014.

This is a really good signing as he has put in many good performances for Saints since his move from Colchester 2 years ago.

Glad to see you staying Dean...

Saints 2 Preston 1

Yeah, about that.....

I didn't go last night and I feel bad as there was only 7,000 people to witness a good solid display by the mighty red & white. (I did see a very good film at the cinema though called Warrior, I recommend you all see it!).

Last night was a good chance for some of our fringe players to get a game and by the sounds of it they all gave a good account of themselves, especially Lee Holmes who looked fresh and up for it.

The draw for the next round is Sat morning and I'm hoping we get another small team as I feel we can go far in this competition.

The Kids are Alright!

I'll be going to the game tomorrow night and expect I will see a selection of fringe players as well as maybe some of the Academy kids.

The Saints Academy are doing really well this season and face a massive game against West Ham this Saturday.

They have already beaten Man Utd's kids, drew with Tottenham and knocked 5 past Birmingham.

Check out Saints Academy for more info and keep up to date with their progress on this site.

Well, today was the first game I have been to this season due to work commitments but I was blooming impressed by the free flowing football Adkins has got us playing.

I was not impressed by the rain!

It was some of the worst rain I had ever seen but I went into the ground with hope in my heart that Birmingham's challenge would be "Washed Out".

I didn't need to worry as we were 2-0 up after 20 minutes with goals from Lambert (leading Scorer in the Championship) and Guly. Lallana made it 3 at halftime and we were cruising!

The last time I was at a Saints game and we were 3 nil up we lost 4-3 to Leeds so I wasn't counting my chickens.

Half time dragged due to the awfully slow service in the concourse...all I wanted was a bloody Coffee and it took me 25 minutes to get the warm brown water they pass off as coffee! One good thing was I missed the Birmingham goal.

The Brummies were on top from that goal and really put the pressure on us but with Chaplow making it 4 and restoring the 3 goal lead I saw the quality we have in all positions. I felt we had another gear we could have gone up to if we needed to and that is something I haven't seen from a Saints team in a long time.

 The rain was lashing down!

With Saints having the best start they have had in 103 years i'm not sorry for being really optimistic about the season ahead.

Oh and by the way....

You dirty Skate B**tards, we're coming for you!

Don't worry Ed...I'm Back!

Sorry people but I have been busy and have neglected this Blog...
